La Liga (Liga de Fútbol Profesional or Primera División) began in 1929 with ten teams. Over the years, it has expanded to the present day total of 20. Only Athletic Club Bilbao, Barcelona, and Real Madrid, respectively, have never been relegated. In recent years, La Liga has become one of the most entertaining soccer leagues in the world. Previously I talked about your training and if it is benefiting you. Today I want to start extending this theme. Too often I consult to players that have lost direction with their training and have no real structure to what they are doing. They are putting in the hours but unfortunately much of this is what I term “junk training” and there is little progression from year to year. Read more

Cech grabs award Despite Losing Finals

On the eve of the Supercup in Monaco, UEFA holds its football awards gala show in the city where the last season’s top performers are voted for by the coaches of the 16 sides that made it past the group stage last year. This year, undoubtedly, Petr Cech snatched the honours for the top goalkeeper for his sensational performances last season.
